Mark 5:14-17
14And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
15And they came to Jesus, and saw him that was possessed with the demon, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
16And they that saw it told them what had happened to him that was possessed with the demon, and also concerning the swine.
17And they began to ask him to depart out of their region.
Wow. Talk about a rough day so far. Here he cast these demons out of this man. And then the pigs...and the pigs all die. Then the town people come out and say to Jesus, "you gotta leave our town." Wow. Tough day huh?
Mark 5:21-23
21And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, many people gathered unto him: and he was near unto the sea.
22And, behold, there came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
23And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lies at the point of death: I pray you, come and lay your hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
Jesus didn't even get to take a rest, and then there came a man, who wanted Jesus to heal his daughter who was near death. The Bible said that Jesus went with the man and many people crowded in around him. Now he has this crowd pushing in on all sides. And there came a certain woman in the crowd that had an issue...That is what Jesus does, he heals our issues. We are all full of issues and problems and distress. Jesus doesn't leave us stranded in our issue. No matter how much is on his agenda, he always has time for our issues. This woman had an issue of blood. She needed a healing. Not only did this woman had an issue, but there are three things that we know about this woman according to the Scripture.
1. She had a long term illness, she had been sick for 12 years. Maybe you are facing an issue today that you have had as long as you can remember. Maybe you thought you would never get better. This woman had been sick for 12 years, but that didn't matter. There is no problem too hard for Jesus. I've heard people say, "Oh, I 've had this for so long, I guess things will never get better." Don't count your self out yet, Jesus is still alive and he is still working miracles!
2. This woman had suffered many things. Her suffering was great. She was not in a position in life that was acceptable. She had a real problem of sickness. And the physicians only made her sufferings worse. There are times when you realize WHY they call it practicing medicine. You can find your self in a position where everything the doctors try to make your condition better, only makes it worse and adds more suffering to you. The bible said she had suffered many things of many physicians.
3. The doctors had taken all of her money, and her condition had not gotten better, but only worse. You can pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars, and drive back and forth across the country to go to physician after physician, and still end up sicker than you were yesterday. This woman had spent all she had on the doctors to cure her issue. Money can't heal your issues. Many times doctors cannot heal your issue. Put all your issues in one basket and then give that basket to Jesus.
This woman said, "if only I can touch the hem of his garment I will be healed." This woman didn't question if God wanted to heal her, or if God was willing to heal her. If you are still questioning God, you don't yet have the faith you need to be healed. She never paused to say, "Is it GOD'S will to HEAL ME." She didn't wait for God to come her way. She didn't say, "IF it be God's will,..." She didn't sit at home wishing her circumstances would change. As sick as she was, and unclean because of the blood, she pressed through the crowd. She had a determined and dogmatic faith that would not be denied. The only thing this woman questioned was IF she could actually REACH the hem of his garment. But as weak as she was she pressed her way through the crowd and she grasped the hem of his garment anyhow!
There are times when we don't know if we can reach the hem of his garment, because there is so much depression, and discouragement, and opposition from the enemy clouding up the atmosphere. Sometimes you got to press through. The old timers called that praying through. When you pray you reach up and touch heaven, but when heaven comes down and touches you, that is when your life really begins to change. You got to do more than reach heaven, you got to pray through and pray until heaven comes down and touches you! This woman said, "I KNOW I will be healed." Then she pressed through the crowd and would not be denied! This is the kind of faith that will shake both heaven and earth!
